The kids have taken advantage of our warm streak to spend some quality time in the pool! Despite the fact that I’m outside watching them while in a jacket, they are having a blast. My only indication that it’s actually a little chilly in there is when Jonah said the pool would be better if it were a hot tub instead!

Hop

Jonah has been working on recognizing and writing letters and has been able to write a few here and there for some time now. I’ve been a little nervous because over the holidays when I visited his preschool I saw that some of the kids were already writing their own names. A couple months after that he could write his own name but in no particular letter order. Spelling lawlessness!

He’s been working on spelling out words as we read and yesterday he got really into “hop” from the I Hop book and wanted to practice writing it. He’s been writing it a ton all day today and I couldn’t be prouder. H O P all facing the right way, many times over. Progress!

Hiking

We had a warm weekend a while back and did some hiking with friends. Having the McCanns back in Seattle assures me that we’ll get out for more hiking this year, which is so fabulous! For the first time Jonah complained a bit on the way up (I think on hikes before he was just too young to do anything but follow along). Admittedly it was a lot of switch backs. All the kids made it just fine though. We ate lunch at the top of the mountain (not really a mountain, Rattlesnake Ledge) and after we got down the kids got to play in the little lake.

Some priceless Jonah quotes from the way up: My legs don’t have anymore energy. Ohh, I’m tired, do we need to keep walking? Let’s take a nap. Are there mattresses at the top for resting? Can we get some donut snacks at the top?

We borrowed a hiking backpack for Corbin and he was so comfy that he fell asleep for a while. I have a hilarious video of his head bopping along.

We’ve got lots of updates but I’ve been experiencing some technical hurdles lately that have left me unmotivated.

One of Corbin’s great joys in life is doing dishes. He’s often Grandma’s wingman on scrubbing plates. However he tends to get very wet. Thus it’s often better to dishes sans shirt. Not sure if it’s quite as helpful when the shirt is still hanging around your neck.
